Tikiwe® - 5 Years of Cork Bags
On February 1, 2022, Tikiwe®-Taschen aus Kork (Tikiwe® Cork Bags) celebrated its 5th birthday! From day one, Tikiwe® Cork Bags took off like a rocket. Problems? Never, because the mindset was always right!
No, did you really think I'd come up with such nonsense? 😉
In these 5 years, I've learned a lot, met many people, and experienced much. Time to say thank you. Thank you to all of you who have accompanied me on my journey so far!
But these 5 years have also accumulated a history. Not everything was always shining, mindset or not. Feel invited to experience the past 5 years with me.
- Tikiwe® is my baby. Tikiwe® saw the light of day as a trading agency for sustainable fashion and home accessories. I had researched endlessly, flew to Portugal, and in a good 10 days, completed a mammoth program with 3-4 appointments daily. The first shock hit me during these appointments: very few companies truly work sustainably. Only 4 remained. I came to an agreement with 2 of them at the time. My baby was barely 3 months old when I realized that this wasn't going to work for me. I transformed the trading agency into the label Tikiwe® to be able to control all processes. I didn't throw my career overboard just to end up in the old swamp again!
- 2018 was supposed to be the real start. The first small collection was ready. Time to launch it into the big, wide world! A booth at the Tendence in Frankfurt, one at the Trend Set, and the Heim + Handwerk in Munich was booked. Awesome! 3 days before the first big appearance, a letter: trademark infringement lawsuit. Just like that. There couldn't have been a worse timing. Long story short, the trade fairs were disastrous because I couldn't appear with my brand, but only with my bags until clarification. Such things take time. Trust lost. Of course, it is my brand, but thank you that we could clarify that for a lot of money.
- 2019 was supposed to be the real start! But really this time. I presented Tikiwe®-Taschen aus Kork at every conceivable trade fair, acquired dealers, designed a new product line, and was in good spirits. A new, reliable sewing workshop was found. Great bags in the pipeline. Together with large, exciting companies, I founded the Zero Waste network. Newspaper articles about Tikiwe®-Taschen aus Kork were published. Everything just worked out! It was wonderful! My private life couldn't handle it. I was surprisingly replaced. That was somehow a bit much, so I collapsed in November. 2019 had the potential to be really good. Fail.
- 2020 didn't really want to get started. Still sick. So I canceled my order, who would have sold them anyway? Finally, from March, things got a little better. Then came the lockdown. Oh great. Now what? Pacing circles on the living room floor. Cursing, grumbling. And then: I built the online shop, read up, rebuilt, read up, changed, read up, tinkered. By October it was finally ready. Yes! I can do it alone!
- 2021 was supposed to be the real start. The Tikiwe®Lady was the kick-off. The lockdown, just like in 2020, wasn't really practical for sales. But it was good for orientation, for new ideas, for further education, for realigning my life. In May, life became more open, and suddenly, Tikiwe®-Taschen aus Kork picked up speed again. I couldn't revive the canceled order from 2019. The sewing workshop was gone. Damn. In November, I set out and found a new one.
But 2022 is going to be really good! With all of you.
This year too, I look forward to likes, shares, recommendations, and of course, orders.
Therefore, from February 1, 2022, to February 28, 2022, there will be a 5% discount on the entire range, which will be deducted immediately.

To everyone who was there when I wasn't so strong, and also to those who made it difficult for me. I grew from everything. And I will continue to grow. Just as Tikiwe®-Taschen aus Kork will continue to grow.
Tikiwe® means eternity, backward or forward, it doesn't matter. Let's stay flexible.
